No Shoes Policy

We just returned from a long weekend up in Vermont. Sleep late, sit back, relax, feet up, was the call of the day. There were walks in the woods, a solstice bonfire, a dog playing in the river and quite a few glasses of wine. It was a great way to kick off the summer.
We both needed some delicious, healing time out in the woods and away from the distractions of life. We didn't even have reliable internet access, which was a gift in disguise. The valley's way of reminding us that it's nourishing to shut off from the digital world for a while and put your toes in the grass.
Next we're planning a trip out to Portland, OR and Crater Lake. We're both really looking forward to another chance to walk the woods, look at the stars and smell the earth.
Anywhere

Today a friend asked me about a fantasy space. I thought I'd share with you. Where would you be if you could be anywhere today?

Ok:
Cabin where I can hear the waves
Dry, clean air
a little brisk, but nothing cold
Breeze blowing through the house
Curtains rise and fall with the wind
Mug of tea on the white-washed coffee table
Laying back on the sofa, feet up reading a book
Dog nearby
L is coming back from the grocery store with goods for sandwiches with all fresh ingredients
My bike is parked in the foyer because I thought it might rain, but it hasn't yet
After sandwiches, we bike to the beach
We play with the dog as she runs from the sand to the water and back again

- Living in a cute cottage in Portland, OR with man and dog. Taking long hikes and dips in clean waters.
- Having strawberry-smoothie hair color.
- Painting all the dark furniture light, and having mosquito netting curtains to diffuse the bright light streaming in from voluminous windows.
- Outdoor garden space that creeps indoors with giant, potted trees and vats of greenery.
